The optical module is a functional module or accessory, is a passive device that cannot be used alone. It can only be used in switches and devices with optical module slots; the optical fiber transceiver is a functional plug-in and is a separate active device. The equipment can be used alone with the power supply. The backup slot is located in the center console in the Taurus, Fusion, Explorer, Expedition (through 2017) and Flex. The exact location will vary somewhat. Most consoles are filled with stuff, so you may need to dig a bit.

SX-430 EW Transceiver

The SX-430 EW Transceiver is a U.S. Army CMOSS and The Open Group’s SOSA™ aligned high-performance full duplex dual-channel software defined transceiver that operates over the 1-18000 MHz frequency range. Selectable instantaneous bandwidths from 40 -160 MHz, industry leading tuning speeds, significant on-board FPGA resources and Red/Black separation make this SDR an ideal fit for most Cyber/EW/SIGINT/Comms applications for use on Air, Land and Sea platforms. Comprehensive software development and embedded development kits available.
